OnePlus 3 Review On February 2017!!! [After 6 months of usage]
It’s been a -not so- long time as OnePlus 3 came out to the world and made everybody curious about this “high speced” phone. Let’s take a look back to the first product of the Chinese company which is the OnePlus One that also made everybody chill with its high specification phone for a really cheap price, and OnePlus are really well known by this. OnePlus one did a good job that time but sadly the OnePlus 2 failed to continue it’s predecessor’s success that made the fans waiting for the 3. And now it’s been months the 3 were showing its fang to the geek which care so much about phone’s spec rather than its brand.
The OnePlus 3 is a good phone. I cannot say anything else because it is literally a good phone especially for its price which came for $399 at the launching event. This is really interesting if we are looking at the specification like the Snapdragon 820 processor (which is not the underpowered one like the other Chinese company provides), whopping 6GB of RAM which is fully usable, 16MP tricky rear facing camera (I’ll show you why later), 8MP decent front facing camera, a 1080p nice AMOLED screen, a blazing fast fingerprint scanner, USB type-C with the fastest charging technology until now which called the Dash Charge, beautiful and slick metal unibody, time saver alert slider and the OxygenOS which makes this phone blazing fast and many more. With those list listed, it’s really hard to believe that this device cost only $399 considering a lot of other company sells the phone with the same specification higher.
So what is so special about this 4th phone of OnePlus that makes many people love it?
The answer can be different. For me, I’ve been using this phone for 6 months and I kinda love it and hate it. I really like the fluidity of this phone. People says that Xiaomi is the Apple from China because of its interface is really similar to iPhone’s. But for me, OnePlus is the Apple from China. Not really. I mean, The iPhone form China. Why? Because its interface is really fluid like the iPhone. You know it right? No lags on the iPhone and bla bla bla. NO! I used an iPhone and I found lags and stuttering. And yes, not as many as Androids nowadays. But on OnePlus 3, the experience is just the same with iPhone if not better. No lags or stuttering on everything like the transition, app changing, scrolling through menu and websites, opening the camera (which is really fast and responsive) and many more. This phone just works! Oh, and this phone is now updated to the latest Android Nougat 7.0. OnePlus didn’t try to make a hype like the others are doing such as the modular design, dual camera setup or even the water resistant rate are not present on this device. They made a phone that works like phone and be like a phone. And guess what? This philosophy in my opinion is good, because for me, what is the point of buying a dual camera phone that bootloops every single time? What is the point of buying an IP68 phone that normal people doesn’t even want to take their phone to shower, and also many things that hyped that honestly doesn’t really work as a phone?
With all of that being said, this device is not an exception to a far from perfect phone. Let’s say the rear camera as this device’s main shooter. It is really good. I can say very good. The level is above average. You can go outside and leave your pocket camera at home and take nice and clear pictures. But when it comes to the video, yes it takes 4K video with nice details, thanks to its 16MP resolution. But for colour reproduction, this device tries to copy the real world scenario which can be good or bad for certain people. Some people wants a slightly saturated video even though it looks nicer than the real world. That’s why there is a post video editor app. They want an instant result that they don’t need to edit their footage and they can directly post it on the internet. So, it depends!
Last word, this device is pretty good (and I’ve said it twice). There are a lot of things that make you comfortable to use this phone as your daily driver that I haven’t mention such as the high quality DAC, notification LED, fast comunity responses and fast software updates. And for me it will also last longer than other flagship phones such as *cough*samsung*cough*. And also there are a lot of minor things that makes this phone “worth” the cheap money such as I found that this phone doesn’t support projecting its screen via USB cable with the VGA or HDMI adapter. I don’t also mention like the camera hump on it’s back, but it can be solved with a case. Unless you are a species of person that likes your phone naked, and you also don’t use the screen protector for the sake of sexiness.
Finally. This phone is not perfect considering the company is still a newcomer and they need time to improve. And when people talk about its minus, the price comes up to excuse it. Nice job OnePlus!
So is there a perfect smartphone? No! You make it perfect!
